Many things have multiple sides, and when you meet difficulties, if you think in a different way, you may find a new discovery. I would like to show this concept in a visual way. In this project, I chose three sets of words from the binary opposition. “Life" and "Death", "Up" and "Down", "Light" and Dark". One side of these words is considered by most people to be "negative" and the other side is considered to be "positive", but they are interrelated and affect each other. These "negative" words represent the difficulties and obstacles that people encounter, and if they think these problems in different perspective, they may get "positive" results.
The project consists of three posters and an animation. These posters explore the phenomenon of a 'whale fall', where the carcass of a whale provides a unique opportunity for life in the deep, dark ocean. A ‘whale fall’ occurs when the carcass of a whale has fallen onto the ocean floor at a depth greater than 1,000 meters. Despite the initial sadness of a whale's death, the ecological impact of a whale fall demonstrates the interconnectedness and resilience of marine ecosystems. The animation shows the whale falling, using the relationship between the death of the whale and the lives of other marine animals to convey the concept of the multifaceted sides of things.
