The poetical moments of life are shared in a mixed media of languages, where physicality meets writing. Typing Gesture is an embellishment of typography that incorporates the outer language of the body, into the inner digital world of typing. It thinks about type as an opportunity of artistic expression through movement. In the same way that calligraphy expresses the inner world of the calligrapher, Typing Gesture expresses the outer world of the writer's body language through an adaptable type. In Typing Gesture type changes in x height, baselines, counter space, ascenders, descenders, glyphs, italicization, tracking, leading and more in order to “mimic” the fluidity and possibilities of bodily communication. With the future developments of body tracking and its accessibility from nearly any social media platform, type can be expressive in its digital form to communicate beyond the isolated written word.
