We Come and We Go is a project inspired majorly by the Korean traditional book of genealogy, called “Jokbo.” The core concept of this project comes from the deliberate act of recording the family history that includes bitterness and wound, tied closely to the violence and brutality of modern Korean history and society. This project is one’s search for answers to this question: what qualifies a family in contemporary society? The method is through tracing and gathering the anecdotes of the family and objectively depicting them through publication. There are two axes in this project: time and location. Time is represented through the vertical axis which serves as a metaphor for events and history. On the other hand, location, the horizontal axis, functions as a visualization of separation and dissociation.
